Achieving Equality for Women
Passionate about both public service and her family, Michela Alioto-Pier has led the way for more equitable treatment for women and women with children in San Francisco. Michela was the first Supervisor to have a child while serving on the Board, and she’s worked to balance her role as a public servant with her role as a mom. Breaking down barriers and expanding and opportunity will be a priority for Michela as Mayor.
Enhancing San Francisco’s Quality of Life
San Franciscans deserve a City with clean and safe streets, well maintained infrastructure and strong communities. Michela Alioto-Pier has made quality of life issues a key component of her time in public service, giving voice to everyday San Franciscans who expect a City as great as its people.
Creating Jobs and Growing Our Economy
Michela Alioto-Pier knows that City government and business can and should work together to create jobs, provide services and protect San Francisco’s values. As Supervisor, Michela played a key role in brining innovative companies to San Francisco that match our city’s workforce, our drive to innovate, and our commitment to the environment and opportunities for all. As Mayor, she will continue to make smart job creation her top priority.
Safeguarding our Environment
Beginning with her service as a policy advisor to then-Vice President Al Gore, Michela Alioto-Pier has worked to protect and improve our environment throughout her career. Michela understands that our economy, our air and water, and our future depend on smart policies that drive innovation in energy and that protect our limited, critical resources. As Mayor, she’ll continue the City’s visionary leadership while focusing on revitalizing parks and open spaces in our neighborhoods.
Fixing Our Budget
The City's budget is more than $6 billion, an incredible sum that should be enough to provide crucial City services and meet the needs of our roughly 800,000 residents. Almost every year, structural budget deficits threaten our most important City services and programs—health clinics, neighborhood firehouses, parks and childcare are often on the chopping block. Michela Alioto-Pier will end the broken budget cycle by instituting common sense reforms that reinvent local government.
